Income tax

The Income Tax Act, 1961 aims to levy tax on the income earned by individuals, firms, companies and other forms of organizations as defined by the Act.

It contains provisions which specify the applicability of the Act to various sources of income, the methods of computation of tax including the deductions and exemptions available, the modes of recovery and other assessment procedures.
